Funeral of Alexander Andrews and Ernest Bates passes along Royal Avenue, Belfast, N Ireland, UK. They died in a no warning Provisional IRA bomb attack on the Four Step Inn on the Loyalist Shankill Road on 29th September 1971. Andrews was helping out in the bar; Bates was a customer. A local newspaper estimated that 50,000 joined the cortege. It was reckoned to be one of the biggest funerals during the Troubles. 197110020376
