Michael James Malachy Hughes, 16 years, Newry, Co Down, who was shot dead by a British Army Royal Marine during a bus hi-jacking incident on 18th October 1974. The army's version of events, that Michael had pointed a pistol at them, was disputed. Michael was given an Provisional IRA funeral and shots were fired over his grave. Two years earlier Michael's father, Patrick Hughes, died with 8 others when a bomb exploded prematurely. 197410180589.
