Bloody Sunday, Derry, Londonderry, 30 January 1972, Father Edward Daly, waving blood-stained handkerchief, as he escorts wounded protester to safety. During the events of that day 26 civilians were shot, 13 fatally on the day, and one more  died two months later.<br />

Father Daly became RC Bishop of Derry in 1974. He died in August 2016 aged 82 years.<br />

UK Prime Minister David Cameron apologised for the events of Bloody Sunday in June 2010 in the House of Commons admitting that the Parachute Regiment had fired the first shots.<br />
