Train en route to Antonito travels through the southern tip of the Rockies..The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad built in 1880 and little-changed since then is the most spectacular example of steam era mountain railroading in North America. The original narrow gauge extended from Denver to Santa Fe to Silverton. Today it is a 64 mile portion that runs from Chama, New Mexico, to Antonito, Colorado.
