The coffin of Cormac McCabe, a UDR Captain,  who was kidnapped and murdered by the Provisional IRA, is conveyed by a gun carriage passed the UDR base where Mr McCabe was commanding officer. The funeral took place in his home town of Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone on 22nd January 1974. Mr McCabe's body was found a short distance inside N Ireland on the Tyrone-Monaghan border near Clogher. Mr McCabe, was the headmaster of a local school and a close friend of Ulster Unionist Westminister MP, Ken Maginnis. Mr McCabe was kidnapped by the Provisional IRA from a hotel in Monaghan town where he was having lunch with his wife and family. Mr McCabe was kidnapped on Saturday, 19th January 1971, his body was recovered on Sunday 20th January and his funeral was on 22nd January 1974. 197401200026d.<br />
