Samuel Devenney, William Street, Londonderry, who died on 5th July 1969 as a result of injuries incurred when RUC policemen broke into his home on 19th April 1969 in pursuit of a group of young people allegedly involved in civil disturbances. The Devenney family claim they were batoned by the police. Despite an inquiry into the incident by a senior British police officer, Sir Arthur Young, no one was ever charged. Young said there was a lack of evidence due to "a conspiracy of silence". 197311000708.<br />
