Police headgear and shattered glass in the rear seat of the unmarked car in which three police officers died whilst on routine patrol near Ardboe, Co Tyrone, on 2nd June 1977. The ambush was carried out by three members of the Provisional IRA each armed with an Armalite rifle. After the police vehicle crashed the gunmen approached firing a further 20 shots into the Ford Escord. Ardboe is on the western shore of Lough Neagh. In 1979 a 22 year old Coalisland man was jailed for life for the three murders. The policemen who died were: Samuel Derek Davison, Kenneth Norman Lynch and Hugh Martin. 197706020206c<br />
